Yalari is a not-for-profit organisation that offers quality secondary education scholarships at some of Australia’s leading boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities. Our vision is to provide trusted, quality educational opportunities for Indigenous children so they can achieve positive outcomes for themselves, their families and communities, and make a valuable contribution as Australians. Our purpose is to educate and empower Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities to help bring about generational change. We do this by creating opportunities for a first-class education through full boarding scholarships, wrap‑around student support and strong partnerships with families, schools and communities. “Yalari” comes from the Birri Gubba language group and means “child”. It is the name our Founding Director, Waverley Stanley AM, was given permission to use by his grandfather, “Blokey” Wilson.
