The YMCA of Montclair is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Montclair, New Jersey, founded in 1891. It operates three branches—the Park Street YMCA, Geyer Family YMCA, and the YMCA Outdoor Education Center—and centers its work on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Membership is open to all, with financial assistance available for residents in its service area (Bloomfield, Bloomingdale, Clifton, Cedar Grove, Glen Ridge, Haskell, Montclair, Verona, and West Milford) who demonstrate need, and the programming includes before- and after-school child care, summer camps such as Camp at the Lake on a 30-acre property in West Milford, and wellness-related offerings such as educational workshops, a national swim lesson program, and health and wellness classes. The YMCA also delivers programs focused on chronic disease wellness and other health education for all ages. In recent years, it has pursued community partnerships and projects, including efforts to improve public space outside the Park Street lobby and participation in local events like the Dare to Dream tournament.
