York County History Center is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving and presenting the history, people, and culture of York County, Pennsylvania, and, more broadly, the state and nation. It operates a network of collections, historic sites, and museums to illuminate the American story for local residents and visitors. Based in York, the center positions itself within the museums and historical sites sector and relies on a relatively small staff to manage its programming and preservation efforts.
It has pursued external partnerships to broaden its reach, including a 2023 collaboration with the Field Museum to offer private tours related to a Native American history initiative. In October 2024 the organization received an Ohio Local History Alliance Achievement Award for its sports exhibit, reflecting external recognition of its curated work and community impact. Earlier in 2020, it launched a virtual museum to improve access to York County history during stay-at-home orders.
