YRM, of Ft. Lauderdale, the custom carpentry and dockside service company, has expanded into custom stainless steel and aluminum fabrication, and moved into a new 10,000-square-foot plant with workshops for metal and carpentry work.
“We believe this is the time to make this move because the economy is ready to bounce back,” said YRM CEO Stuart Pudsey, who founded YRM in 2008.
The company, at 3295 SW 11th Ave. off Perimeter Road, has grown from four to nine workers and acquired state-of-the-art metal-working equipment – a computer-driven, stainless-steel bending machine, top-of-the-line welding machine, an automatic cut-off saw and a polisher, says Chris Tomaszewski, YRM’s new general manager, who brings 18 years of marine metal-working experience to the company.
“I hired Chris as general manager with the vision to expand to metal fabrication,” Pudsey said. He said YRM now can provide one-stop shopping for carpentry, metal and dockside maintenance work, which usually aren’t found at one location.
Pudsey says YRM services boats of all sizes. The 5,000-square-foot metal workshop fabricates stainless steel railings, anchor rollers, tender chocks, rub rails and other stainless and aluminum pieces. The carpentry shop, also 5,000 square feet, specializes in cabinetry and teak decks. The company is planning a design office equipped with 3-D printer and scanner, and computer-aided design capabilities.
