Zagazig University is a higher education institution located in az Zaqāzīq, Sharqia, Egypt. It originated as a branch of Ain Shams University in the 1969/1970 academic year, making it one of the early universities established in Egypt. The institution aims to contribute to Egypt’s renaissance and strengthen the country’s standing, and it has embraced the image of Ahmed Orabi as a symbolic emblem. The university serves a wide regional community across Sharqia and Qalyubia.

From an initial six colleges, Zagazig University grew to encompass 33 colleges and institutes serving Sharkia and Qalyubia. A 1974 law formally established the university, and a 2005 presidential decree redefined its structure to include 19 colleges; the institution also envisions a branch in the 10th of Ramadan City to support green areas and regional economic activity.
