The mission of 4th Wall Theatre Company is to produce extraordinary professional theatrical experiences and to set a high standard for excellence in acting, direction, and design. Our tagline – extraordinary performances, up close – is brought to life in our intimate 106-seat black box theatre where audiences can experience the finest theatre Houston has to offer no more than a few feet away from the stage.

4th Wall was founded in 2011 with the vision of advancing a nationally recognized and more robust Houston theatre culture – one that cultivates a wide spectrum of theatre organizations demonstrating the professionalism and quality of companies found in great theatre cities such as Chicago and New York. 4th Wall believes that only by paying artists a fair wage can we grow and sustain the community of theatre professionals here in Houston. To this end, 4th Wall has prioritized increased pay for directors, designers, and actors, year over year, even beyond industry standards, since the organization’s founding.

4th Wall believes in developing and promoting the highest aesthetic of acting that is truthful by producing cutting-edge, exciting, live theatre. In our 12-season history of 44 critically-acclaimed productions, 32 were Houston or Regional premieres, and eight were Pulitzer Prize winners or finalists. 

The company was incorporated in the State of Texas and is a registered 501(c)(3) with the IRS.
