Research Services0-1 Employees

Founded in 2008, A Foundation Building Strength is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding treatments for Nemaline Myopathy. Donations support collaborative and groundbreaking medical research on the origins and treatments for NM, which results in varying degrees of muscle weakness due to abnormalities with the muscle cell. Founders Marc and Dana Guillet began A Foundation Building Strength (AFBS) after giving birth to their third child, Ava. While Dana experienced an uneventful and normal pregnancy, Ava was diagnosed with NM at seven months. While maintaining a bright and cheerful personality, Ava continues to be fed by a gastronomy feeding tube and also receives on-going occupational, physical and swallowing therapy.
