A Pup Above, based in Austin, Texas, operates in the pet food manufacturing space, producing premium dog foods that prioritize ingredient transparency. It is a family-owned and operated business founded by Ruth and Javier Marriott alongside their dog Lola Marie, motivated by the desire to know what was in Lola's bowl. The company uses a gently cooked sous-vide method intended to enhance flavor, nutrients, and protein in its foods, including a dry option that is 100% human-grade.

The Whole Food Cubies line provides a dry, human-grade dog food that combines the appeal of fresh ingredients with the convenience of a dry product, and it is distributed nationwide through more than 2,000 independent pet retailers and online at apupabove.com. In 2023, the company introduced a new size for Whole Food Cubies, reflecting ongoing product expansion.
