Accion Latina is a San Francisco nonprofit dedicated to serving Latino communities through community media and cultural arts programming. Its core project, El Tecolote, began as a bilingual newspaper developed by students in a Raza Studies class at San Francisco State University and has since become a central platform for local reporting and storytelling. The organization has a long history of cultural programming, including the Encuentro del Canto Popular festival, and formalized as a nonprofit in 1987 with its first strategic plan and leadership in place.

Over the years, Accion Latina expanded its footprint in the Mission District through a building purchase on 24th Street and, in 2015, the opening of the Juan R. Fuentes Gallery to showcase Latino visual arts. The nonprofit operates as a small- to mid-sized entity serving residents of San Francisco through journalism, arts, and cultural programming. In November 2025, Accion Latina participated in the 44th Annual Encuentro del Canto Popular, underscoring continued engagement with its signature event.
