ACTR, officially Addison County Transit Resources, is a nonprofit community transportation provider serving residents and visitors in Addison County, Vermont. Based in Middlebury, the organization operates two transportation systems: a Shuttle Bus System with local and commuter routes and a Dial-a-Ride service. It carries nearly 200,000 rides each year. The organization has been recognized nationally for its public-private partnerships and its work to reduce fossil fuel dependence in rural communities. In 2012, ACTR founded Go Addison County, a Transportation Management Association that collaborates with businesses, local governments, and other nonprofits to help overcome transportation barriers and support employee recruitment and retention. Go Addison County runs a Smart Commute program that assists employers in creating incentive programs to curb carbon emissions through ridesharing, transit passes, telecommuting, and biking or walking.
