The Addiction Policy Forum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the civic and social sector, based in North Bethesda, Maryland. It was created by families affected by addiction with a mission to eliminate addiction as a major health problem. The organization focuses on helping patients and families in crisis, reducing the stigma surrounding addiction, expanding prevention and early interventions, promoting evidence-based practice, and advancing patient-led research. Most recently, in April 2026, Addiction Policy Forum launched a series of science-backed educational resources to inform the public about cannabis use disorder, its health risks, and the latest research on effective response strategies. This activity demonstrates the organization's emphasis on education for patients, families, and the broader public health community and its commitment to evidence-based approaches in addressing addiction.
