The African Guarantee Fund, a mid-sized financial services organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, supports economic development by improving access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises. It operates two main activities: a guarantee facility that helps banks partially cover the risks of SME lending to expand their SME portfolios, and a capacity-building facility that assists banks in strengthening their SME banking capabilities. Its primary clients are banks and other financial institutions, which it supports through risk-sharing guarantees and targeted capacity-building programs to enable broader SME lending. By facilitating greater SME financing, AGF aims to promote inclusive growth and stability in Africa's financial system. In June 2026, Zenith Bank Plc partnered with AGF to advance SME inclusion, including support for women-owned businesses.
