The African Studies Association (ASA) is a U.S.-based organization founded in 1957 and headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey. It works to advance knowledge about Africa across historical and contemporary contexts and to foster a holistic understanding of the continent’s political, economic, social, cultural, scientific, and environmental landscapes.
