​We don’t have to grow food far away from the urban centers that consume it. Buildings should be designed so that they integrate essential demands of the human population: they should integrate water collection, energy production, and agriculture. By wisely integrating these needs into the structures within which we live, we can significantly improve the sustainability of our cities.

BIA presents a solution to global food challenges: let’s integrate food production into our buildings so that we can mitigate the costs (environmental and economic) of industrial agriculture. Let’s grow our food locally, using technologies that reduce the water and energy used, and improve the quality and distribution of food.
