Headquartered in Seward, Alaska, the Alaska SeaLife Center operates as a research‑focused institution within the museums, historical sites, and zoos sector. It generates and shares scientific knowledge about Alaska’s marine ecosystems to promote understanding and stewardship. The center is the state’s only permanent facility authorized to rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals and birds, and it is Alaska’s only public aquarium. Located along Resurrection Bay, the facility runs year‑round to support both scientific work and public education.

Its activities target the public, educators, and researchers seeking insight into marine life and conservation. By combining research, wildlife rehabilitation, and public exhibition, it occupies a distinct position within Alaska’s ocean‑science landscape. In 2023, the center announced a partnership with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, illustrating collaboration with broader industry partners.
