The Allegany County Library System is a mid-sized public library network based in Cumberland, Maryland. It operates six branches in Cumberland, Frostburg, South Cumberland, LaVale, George’s Creek, and Westernport, supported by a county bookmobile that visits elementary schools, nursing homes, and outlying areas. The system maintains a circulating collection that includes books, large print titles, magazines, videos, films, and audiobooks, and its branches provide access to a range of newspapers. It also offers public technology training and provides computers for internet access. Serving Allegany County, the library system aims to improve information access and community education for residents and local institutions in a library industry context. In April 2026, Library Journal recognized the system with its Best Small Library in America award in connection with its Westernport site submission.
