The Alliance of Women Directors is a Los Angeles-based organization established in 1997 that supports women and gender-expansive directors within the entertainment industry. Its activities center on education, support, and advocacy, with membership limited to individuals who have directed at least one recognized narrative, documentary, television, or other media piece, while ally members participate as supporters of the mission. The group situates itself within the entertainment providers sector, aiming to strengthen professional status and community for directors through events and opportunities. While the organization’s primary focus is on professional development and community building, it remains neutral in tone, documenting its role as a professional association for directors rather than a service provider, and it operates from Los Angeles, California, serving a diverse membership likely drawn from the broader film and media production landscape.
