For 45 years, Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation (ABCDC) has led initiatives that create affordable homes, foster community leadership, and offer steps to increase incomes and assets so residents can call Allston Brighton home for the long-term. Rapidly rising housing costs in Allston Brighton disproportionately affect the neighborhood's most vulnerable residents, creating housing instability and displacement of low- and moderate-income individuals from critical community assets like public transportation, healthcare, and jobs. As the only nonprofit dedicated entirely to working with Allston Brighton residents in addressing the impacts of the housing crisis, Allston Brighton CDC works to create and preserve affordable housing opportunities and increase the economic well-being of residents so they can build the lives they envision for themselves. ABCDC was established in 1980 by a group of residents in response to the urban disinvestment of the 1970’s. In the decades since, ABCDC has continuously adapted to the needs of the dynamic population in Allston Brighton and works to address critical changes to create a vibrant neighborhood where people of all incomes, races, and genders can live. To date, ABCDC has: • Built and preserved 553 units of affordable housing for low-to-moderate income families • Educated over 9,500 first-time homebuyers through our homeownership workshops and personalized education • Ensured that our 1,000+ residents have access to the services and resources they need to secure their tenancies, avoid housing instability, and build positive futures • Engaged over 3,500 residents in the urban development and planning process Like us on Facebook: facebook.com/AllstonBrightonCDC Follow us on Instagram: @AllstonBrightonCDC Subscribe to our YouTube channel: @allston-brightoncdc1118
