At Amadeus Wealth Advisors, we believe that rapid technological, economic and social changes are hastening a reassessment of how people invest. In addition to traditional investments, Amadeus is a wealth advisor with an expertise in alternative investments. Owing to a flat and declining stock market, alternatives have become increasingly attractive to many investors. We focus on identifying investment themes – ideas that are asymmetric in their risk/reward and potentially misunderstood or underappreciated by the market. We express these themes through tactical and strategic allocations to alternative investment solutions to create better risk-adjusted outcomes, targeting higher returns and lower volatility. Alternative investments generally fit into two categories; return enhancers and risk mitigators. Certain solutions require higher minimums and all require specialized due diligence. Generally we favor private debt and equity on a primary and secondary basis, non-traded REITs, equipment leasing, direct and co-investments, venture investing, distressed and other special situations. A main objective of including these non-correlated alternatives in your portfolio would be to have returns remain positive during market downturns.
