America Makes is a public-private partnership focused on advancing additive manufacturing technology and education in the United States. Its membership spans industry, academia, government, and workforce and economic development organizations, collaborating to accelerate AM adoption and strengthen national manufacturing competitiveness. Founded in 2012 as the Department of Defense's National Manufacturing Innovation Institute for Additive Manufacturing, and located in Youngstown, Ohio, it is managed by the not-for-profit National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining. The organization fosters an open exchange of AM information, supports the development and evaluation of AM technologies, and provides education and training to build a skilled workforce with regional impact.
