The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) is a nonprofit professional association that supports nurse practitioners across the United States. It provides a unified network and advocacy platform for NP issues, and it is the largest organization representing NPs across all specialties. The association represents more than 355,000 licensed nurse practitioners and engages at local, state, and federal levels to advance recognition of NPs as providers delivering high-quality, equitable, cost-effective, and personalized health care. Based in Austin, Texas, the organization operates with a staff of a few hundred and maintains an online presence at aanp.org to serve its members nationwide. Its work centers on professional development, education, and policy advocacy that support NP practice and patient care. In December 2025, AANP launched the Nurse Practitioner Preceptor Knowledge Center to provide resources and guidance for NP preceptors, reflecting an expansion of its educational offerings.
