The American Botanical Council is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Austin, Texas, founded in 1988 to educate on the safe and effective use of herbs by combining science-based information with traditional knowledge. It serves a broad audience, including the public, researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, industry, and media, and operates independently with support from thousands of members worldwide. ABC disseminates information through publications such as HerbalGram, a peer-reviewed quarterly journal; HerbClip, a bi-monthly summary with critical reviews; and HerbalEGram, a monthly electronic publication. The organization also publishes books, including The ABC Clinical Guide to Herbs, which provides monographs on the safety and efficacy of 30 popular herbs.
