The American Botanical Council is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Austin, Texas, founded in 1988 to educate on the safe and effective use of herbs by combining science-based information with traditional knowledge. It serves a broad audience, including the public, researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, industry, and media, and operates independently with support from thousands of members worldwide. ABC disseminates information through publications such as HerbalGram, a peer-reviewed quarterly journal; HerbClip, a bi-monthly summary with critical reviews; and HerbalEGram, a monthly electronic publication. The organization also publishes books, including The ABC Clinical Guide to Herbs, which provides monographs on the safety and efficacy of 30 popular herbs. In 2025, ABC expanded its educational offerings with the launch of HerbTV, a video-focused platform for herbal education.
