The American Counseling Association (ACA) is a United States-based association in the mental health care industry and is described as the world's largest organization representing professional counselors across various practice settings, serving more than 56,000 members. The organization employs between 201 and 500 people and operates a website at counseling.org. In 2025, ACA launched the Counseling Compact, an interstate agreement intended to facilitate licensed professional counselors' ability to practice across state boundaries. Leadership changes include the appointment of a new chief executive officer in 2026, following an interim chief executive officer in 2025.
