The American Foundry Society (AFS) is a dynamic professional society and trade association serving the men, women and companies that comprise the $50 billion metalcasting industry. Advocacy, education and innovation are essential functions performed by the Society, its nearly 1,000 volunteers and 30 professional staff. AFS members design and produce highly engineered castings that are used throughout the manufacturing economy and modern life. Corporate Members include foundries, suppliers to the industry, and OEMs that use castings. Member foundries melt the full range of metals including iron, steel, copper, aluminum and other light metals, and use the full range of metalcasting processes. 3D printing has a growing impact in the industry and one of the Society’s 10 technical divisions is devoted to that topic. AFS also offers Individual Memberships and low-cost Student Memberships. There are 45 student chapters and 36 regional chapters. Continually evolving its programs to anticipate industry needs, AFS Corporate Membership has risen from 794 in 2015 to more than 1,070 today. There are also nearly 6,000 Individual Members. Both an advocacy leader and a research powerhouse, AFS offers a wide range of member-involvement opportunities and events throughout the year.
