America’s VetDogs, a non-profit organization based in Smithtown, New York, trains and places service animals for veterans and military personnel. The program covers guide dogs for veterans who are blind, service dogs for those with other physical disabilities, therapy dogs to assist amputees in military and VA hospitals, and combat stress control dogs deployed in theater. All services are provided at no cost to veterans, and the organization began in 2003 as a project of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind before becoming an independent 501(c)(3) in 2006. Operating within the non-profit sector that serves veterans, VetDogs aligns its mission with mobility, independence, and mental-health support through trained canine partners. In 2026, VetDogs expanded its partnerships with external organizations, including Window World Inc., to welcome a new service dog into its program.
