Funded by local contributions and a self-imposed county tax, San Angelo Junior College opened its doors in 1928 with 112 enrolled students. Built on resilience, perseverance and determination, SAJC grew into Angelo State University, now enrolling over 11,500 students and boasting an active alumni base of over 50,000. In a values-focused and student-centered learning environment, ASU offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs with the mission to provide highly competitive graduates to the global marketplace. The spirit of Angelo State is captured in the Ram Family, made up of students from across Texas, throughout the U.S. and around the globe, as well as committed faculty and staff. With over 100 student clubs and organizations, thriving intramurals, competitive club sports and activities at the nationally-acclaimed University Center and ASU Lake House, campus life is vibrant and welcoming.
