MISSION To enrich and inspire people of all ages through the arts. VISION To build an open community around creative expression. GOALS 1. Present a wide array of programming to appeal to diverse audiences. 2. Provide support for the arts and become a focal point for arts programming. 3. Work towards inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) in all we do. QUICK HISTORY Founded in 1969, the Art Center was established by Bea Wright, Gretchen Thompson and Phyllis Wickens, three members of the Mount Clemens Art Association who organized community support to save the 1904 Carnegie Library building from demolition. After hiring a director in the 1970’s, the Center slowly built into an important force for local art. A major fundraising effort spearheaded by local businessman Gebran Anton led to the 2006 opening of a building addition that increased gallery space, created a gift shop and provided additional classroom space. We are now known as the Anton Art Center.
