For more than 30 years, AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine served the Austin and national community with regionally accredited master's-level and doctoral-level graduate programs in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Graduates of AOMA are practicing all over the globe. The school closed in April of 2024. Since AOMA’s founding in 1993, it grew in size and reputation, drawing students from around the nation and faculty from around the world. AOMA was an active member of the national and international healthcare community and committed to scholarship, research, and engagement, as evidenced by the publication and presentation schedules of the faculty, the Southwest Symposium it hosted, and the continuing education opportunities the institution provided. AOMA conducted approximately 17,500 patient visits annually in its student and professional clinics. AOMA worked cooperatively with Western healthcare institutions, including the Seton Healthcare Family and the Veterans Administration, giving back to the community through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and by providing free and reduced-price treatments to people who could not afford them otherwise.
