The Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA) is a non-profit association that brings together municipal water providers in the Phoenix metropolitan area to promote responsible water stewardship. Since its founding in 1969, AMWUA has focused on safeguarding Arizona’s water supplies for future generations while supporting economic prosperity for the region. Its member cities and towns—Avondale, Chandler, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Gilbert—serve more than 3.2 million people, representing over half of the state’s population. The organization operates within the utilities sector, coordinating among its members to address water management challenges and share best practices. Based in Phoenix, AMWUA functions with a small staff and emphasizes collaborative leadership to advance water resilience in the metropolitan area. A recent development includes the election of Goodyear Councilmember Sheri Lauritano as President of the AMWUA Board of Directors in early 2024, reflecting ongoing leadership activity within the association.
