Arkansas Children's is a private nonprofit health system in Little Rock dedicated exclusively to the health of Arkansas's children, serving more than 700,000 youngsters in the state. Its network includes two pediatric hospitals, a research institute and USDA nutrition center, a philanthropic foundation, a nursery alliance, statewide clinics, and education and outreach programs. Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock is a 336-bed, Magnet-recognized facility that operates the state's only Level I pediatric trauma center, burn center, Level IV NICU, pediatric ICU, and a Level 1 verification for pediatric surgery from the American College of Surgeons. Arkansas Children's Northwest is the first and only pediatric hospital in Northwest Arkansas, with a Level IV trauma center, a 24-bed inpatient unit, surgical capacity with five operating rooms, outpatient clinics offering more than 20 subspecialties, diagnostic services, imaging, and Northwest Arkansas' only pediatric emergency department. The organization traces its origins to 1912, when it began as an orphanage, and continues to be supported by philanthropic and volunteer engagement; in 2026, the Arkansas Children's Research Institute named Tamara T. Perry president effective July 1.
