Arouet Foundation is a nonprofit based in Phoenix, Arizona, focused on education assistance, workforce development, and post-release job opportunities for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women who are committed to changing their livelihoods. Its origins lie in a 2004 reentry program operated inside Perryville Prison in Goodyear, developed by Televerde with a Department of Corrections partner to prepare women for life after prison. In 2011, the foundation was established to take over and expand these activities to reach a broader group. The organization reports that its programs have substantially reduced recidivism, by more than 75%, through education, job skills, and post-release work opportunities. Its stated goal is to increase employment among incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women.
