Art in General is a Jersey City, New Jersey-based nonprofit organization that develops and presents programs and exhibitions featuring new work by contemporary artists. Founded in 1981 by artists Martin Weinstein and Teresa Liszka, it has a long-standing mission to support artists early in their careers and to present their work to audiences in New York.
Over the years the organization has shown more than 2,000 emerging and mid-career artists who later achieved broader recognition, including Marina Abramović and Rirkrit Tiravanija. It maintains a commitment to diversity and equity in the arts and is often at the forefront of giving artists their first New York exhibitions.
