ArtMix is a nonprofit organization in the artists and writers sector that provides access to the arts for people with disabilities. Through a network of more than twenty professional teaching artists, it offers programming in schools, community centers, hospitals, and its adaptive arts studios near downtown Indianapolis, aiming to increase participation, knowledge, and skills through creative activity. Each year, ArtMix serves more than 6,000 individuals, creating opportunities for learning, self-expression, and social engagement while fostering greater community understanding and acceptance of people of all abilities. Founded in 1982 and based in Indianapolis, ArtMix operates as part of the VSA Affiliate Network, a program connected to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The organization collaborates across multiple venues to deliver its mission-driven arts programs.
