Arundel Rivers Federation is a regional environmental organization based in Edgewater, Maryland, focused on the health of the South River and the communities that rely on it. It aims to protect the river by reviewing land use plans, advocating for strong environmental laws and regulations, and identifying and stopping sources of pollution. It also seeks to preserve the watershed’s natural features—forests and wetlands—that support water quality and habitat—and to advance restoration efforts that improve conditions for aquatic life. Finally, it supports the river as a place for recreation and for people to connect with nature. Operating in the environmental services sector, the federation serves local stakeholders seeking healthier waterways, including land managers, regulators, schools, and the broader community. In 2025 it partnered with The Key School in Annapolis to address stormwater on campus and provide students with hands-on learning opportunities. The organization has produced the River Report Card for the South, West, and Rhode Rivers and has pursued programs such as underwater grass restoration to support aquatic habitats.
