The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Annapolis, Maryland, operating across the six-state Chesapeake Bay watershed to address pollution and restore the Bay and its tributaries. It sets policy agendas, acts as a watchdog, and communicates with business leaders, government officials, and the public to advance environmental protections. The foundation advocates for robust laws and regulations and collaborates with government, industry, and citizens to protect and restore the Bay, using legal avenues to enforce existing requirements when necessary. It undertakes habitat restoration projects to rebuild forests, wetlands, underwater grasses, and oyster populations, drawing on hands-on work in the field. Its environmental education program raises awareness about the watershed, increases knowledge, and empowers residents to take action toward restoration. In May 2025, CBF acquired a 2-acre waterfront property in southern Anne Arundel County, Maryland, to support a new oyster restoration center.
