Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national association with 72 chapters 22,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with nearly two million employees. ABC's membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry.

ABC was started in 1950 when seven contractors gathered in Baltimore, Maryland to form an association built on the shared belief that construction projects should be awarded, based on merit, to the most qualified and responsible contractors, regardless of labor affiliation. Their courage and dedication to the merit shop philosophy spread rapidly and within time ABC became the fastest growing association in the United States. Today ABC has over 24,000 member firms. 

ABC's activities are targeted to meet its members needs. ABC supports members with government representation, legal advocacy, education and training, communications support, information resources, access to technology, recognition through awards programs, business development, information on best practices, insurance and fringe benefit programs and much more.
