The Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training is a research-oriented nonprofit focused on capturing and preserving the experiences of American diplomats. It achieves this by collecting, curating, and publishing oral histories that document diplomatic service, aiming to make firsthand accounts accessible for study and reference. Based in Arlington, Virginia, the organization serves researchers, historians, policy analysts, and other stakeholders interested in U.S. diplomacy and foreign affairs. Its work contributes to a deeper understanding of diplomatic practice and historical context by systematically documenting practitioner perspectives.

In addition to its core archival mission, the association expanded its offerings with the launch of a Library of Oral Histories on U.S. diplomacy in Afghanistan, covering the period from 2001 to 2024. This recent development broadens the scope of its collected narratives and supports ongoing analysis of diplomatic engagement in a specific regional context. The organization operates within the research services sector, focusing on documentation, curation, and dissemination of primary source material related to diplomacy and international relations.
