ANHD is a membership organization in the civic and social arena that brings together NYC neighborhood-based groups, community development corporations, affordable housing developers, supportive housing providers, community organizers, and economic development providers. Its network includes nearly 100 member organizations serving hundreds of thousands of residents across all five boroughs, aiming to create communities where everyone, regardless of race or zip code, has a home and opportunity to thrive. The group’s mission centers on building community power to win affordable housing and to foster equitable, thriving neighborhoods for all New Yorkers.

Headquartered in New York City, ANHD operates within the civic and social sector and coordinates its diverse membership to advance housing and neighborhood development initiatives. Notable recent developments include the 2023 launch of a land use toolkit designed to help communities engage with planning and zoning processes. In 2025, ANHD began participating in the Fight Forward 2025 event series to facilitate conversations on housing, community organizing, and small business, reflecting its role as a convener within the movement.
