The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) is a Bermuda-based association that represents the public policy interests of Bermuda’s international insurers and reinsurers whose operations span the globe. Its headquarters are in the City of Hamilton, Bermuda, with subsidiaries and activities in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, and its members conduct business in more than 150 countries. Since its founding in 1993, ABIR has worked to raise Bermuda’s profile as a leading international financial centre and to coordinate the industry’s public policy voice. Bermuda’s re/insurance market is described as a global source of risk capital, combining innovation with a regulated, well-resourced approach to risk transfer and management, and ABIR member firms have supported rebuilding efforts across the US, UK, and EU. In 2026 the association announced plans to host its Risk Forum in Bermuda, inviting international regulators and industry leaders from the EU, US, and UK to engage on insurance policy and regulatory issues.
