ASDWA is a nonprofit professional association that supports state drinking water programs. Based in Arlington, Virginia, it was founded in 1984 to provide national representation for state administrators and has become a recognized advocate with Congress, the EPA, and other professional organizations. Its members include drinking water program administrators across the 50 states, five territories, the Navajo Nation, and the District of Columbia. It supports its members through policy dialogue and information sharing on issues affecting public water systems. In 2025, ASDWA partnered with the Rural Community Assistance Partnership to publish a guide helping small communities identify non-treatment and treatment options for emerging contaminants.
