Atlantic Center for the Arts, based in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, is an interdisciplinary residency center serving artists and writers. Founded in 1982, its three-week sessions bring together three master artists from different disciplines and a group of residents selected through an application process, creating structured mentorship and collaboration. Residents are provided with private housing and weekday meals, and they have 24-hour access to shared studio space and facilities that include a painting studio, sculpture studio, music studio, dance studio, black box theater, writers' studio, a resource library, and a digital computer lab, in a setting near the east coast beaches. ACA emphasizes a mission to nurture creativity through interdisciplinary residencies, collaborations, and community engagement while encouraging self-discovery within the experience of nature. The organization upholds the founder Doris Leeper's values that the creative spirit must be nurtured, that there is a powerful link between the arts and the natural environment, and that supporting artists fosters innovation locally and globally. In addition to its residency program, ACA engages with the broader community through partnerships and events that broaden awareness of art's benefits beyond its studios.
