Founded in 1993 by Thomas Wright and Joseph Fratesi, Atlas Industries is a multi-disciplinary design and manufacturing firm integrating interiors, furniture and objects in a craft-based sensibility. Our work is informed by the conviction that designing and building are mutually implied processes, always in dialogue. As the abstraction of design finds material expression in an object or space, the success of that expression must be sought in one’s experience of it. This approach is evident across the spectrum of our work, but nowhere more so than in our signature AS4 modular furniture system™, whose versatility and understated beauty have made it a favorite of designers and architects across the globe. In 2013, after being based in Brooklyn for twenty-two years, we moved to Newburgh, in New York’s Hudson Valley. Here, in our studio and shop, we design, prototype, invent, build, and produce our work.
