Augenblick, Palaich and Associates (APA Consulting) is a privately owned firm that analyzes public education systems and policy. Based in Denver, Colorado, it was founded in 1983 and specializes in helping clients improve student performance and the overall quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of public schools. The firm employs a mix of research methods—data analysis, literature reviews, interviews, surveys, focus groups, and statistical analyses—to illuminate the fiscal, legal, and policy implications of education reforms.

Its work addresses a range of issues, including the resources and funding required for schools to meet performance goals and the costs of implementing federal reforms such as the No Child Left Behind Act. It also examines the impacts of school choice and develops approaches to compensate and attract teachers in hard-to-staff schools, as well as evaluating how districts and schools use their resources efficiently.
