Beyond the chassis, the company offers a comprehensive system intended to help customers improve uptime and outcomes, supported by a 24/7 service command center and a network of hundreds of authorized service locations across the United States and Canada. Its customer base includes national waste-hauling fleets, major U.S. cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and Charlotte, and large retailers and freight handlers across North America. The company is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama and is affiliated with GVW Group, positioning Autocar within a broader manufacturing group. Autocar traces its origins to 1899, making it the oldest motor vehicle manufacturer in the United States. In 2026, Autocar announced a fully integrated electric refuse truck developed with Heil for service in Issaquah, Washington.
