The truly wonderful thing about Avena Botanicals is that, when you choose to buy from us, your source is simple to trace. Over 70% of our plants are seeded, transplanted, grown, and harvested within sight of where they are transformed into herbal products. You can know your Biodynamic farmer, your herbalist, your herbal product maker, and your bottler: it all happens right here on Avena Botanicals' Biodynamic farm. What we cannot grow on our farm, we source as much as possible from local organic farmers. The herbs that do not grow locally are thoughtfully sourced from herbalists we trust.

Since 1986, we have been following lunar and seasonal rhythms in all of our gardening and harvesting activities, using the Stella Natura Biodynamic Planting Calendar as our guide. As herbalists, gardeners, and herbal product makers, we believe our products are effective because of the quality of our herbs and the extra care we give to every step of the way. From the planting of thousands of herbal seedlings in our greenhouse, to collecting over 1200 pounds of fresh herbs by hand, to the preparation of our tinctures, teas, oils, salves, cremes, and elixirs; joy, gratitude and prayer infuse our daily work.

We believe that healing herbs and a sacred connection to place promote wellness of the body, mind, and spirit and encourage humans to be mindful and loving stewards of the Earth.
