Opened in 2008, the hotel occupies more than seven acres and is notable for its simple, elegant form that has made it a local landmark. The exterior design is shaped to resemble an aircraft propeller when viewed from above and was commissioned by architect Robin Partington of Hamiltons, known for the Gherkin in London. In 2026, the hotel received recognition in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards, placing fifth and ranking among the UK's top hotels for the year, illustrating its established presence after more than a decade.
