I am an artist who divides my time between Maine and New York City. In addition to paintings and installations, I design and implement gardens that fit into the natural landscape. The challenges that lie at the intersection of the human and natural landscape — providing for the needs of both — play a significant role in my art. I am interested in the dynamic tension between human mechanistic activity and nature’s deeper order. I call this intersection, 'The Garden.’ What attracts me is the idea of a perceived contradiction — one of human action and the other, tendencies of disorder in nature. What motivates me is the opportunity to realize a harmonic vibration in this pairing. I received a degree in Painting with honors from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1978. My work is represented in private and corporate collections in this country and abroad.
