Bathurst Resources is a New Zealand-based mining company headquartered in Wellington, in New Zealand's Wellington region, and is described as the country's largest specialist coal producer, delivering more than 2.2 million tonnes annually. It operates mining facilities across Southland, Canterbury, Waikato, and the West Coast, and began New Zealand operations in 2011; the company is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. In 2017, Bathurst expanded through a joint venture with Talley’s Energy and the acquisition of three mines: Stockton, Rotowaro, and Maramarua, from Solid Energy. About three-quarters of production is used for steelmaking, including a share that goes to a local Kiwi steel mill, and the Denniston and Stockton resources are recognized for low ash content and favorable fluidity, underpinning planned export activities. The company emphasizes responsible mining and environmental stewardship, aiming to manage social and environmental impacts and protect communities. In May 2026 Bathurst announced expansion of facilities to Nigeria, reflecting growth beyond its New Zealand footprint.
