Our History Bay State Bank’s roots extend back to 1895, when 114 spirited citizens of Worcester gathered together and pledged a total of $7,660 to establish a new savings bank in the city. They made good on that pledge, and on May 16, 1895, Bay State Savings opened its doors for business on Main St. in Worcester. Today, as the only remaining bank headquartered in Worcester, MA, we remain committed to our community. While national chains and commercial banks have expanded, Bay State Bank stands as the last locally based financial institution dedicated to serving the people and businesses of Worcester.
