The mission of Bible in the Schools is to advance Bible education for students in Hamilton County public schools. Established in 1922, the Bible program is privately funded by charitable donations through Bible in the Schools and is offered as a free gift to students in grades 6-12. No tax dollars are used. Bible teachers are licensed and certified educators, hired by the school district. The program is constitutionally-approved, and Bible classes are inclusive for all students. Over 5,300 students are annually enrolled in academic Bible courses. Through community generosity, 91% of public school students in Hamilton County, Tennessee, have access to a Bible education, for course credit. Public School Bible Study Committee (dba) Bible in the Schools holds official nonprofit status as a 501(c)(3), and all gifts are tax deductible.
